When you come to stay in Zion for the first time (or anytime), you probably want to know what to do? What can you do that will make your trip memorable and last for years to come? If that's what you're after then may we suggest going biking in Zion?
There's a great biking trail that everyone can ride in Zion called the Pa'rus trail, that begins right after the pay gate and winds through the camp grounds and heads up towards the narrows.
It's a fun ride that crosses over the Virgin River a number of times with several metal bridges. It's a great activity for families as it's easy for anyone to do from the oldest to the youngest. This first part of the trail along the Virgin offers a unique view of the river below you, with several spots to stop and go down to the river. There are even some swimming holes you can jump in if you dare.
Also it's just a pretty ride. You'll be riding along the banks of the Virgin River with the canyon walls of Zion above you. You'll be flanked by towering trees and red rock beauty all around you.
In truth the trail doesn't last for too long, but don't let that stop you. As you can continue riding up the road to the Zion Narrows. Before long they only allow buses to ride on the road so you won't have to worry about getting run off the road.
But oh the views you'll be granted as you ride up through the canyon on those unique red paved roads that are in Zion. If you aren't feeling riding uphill, you can take the easy way out and jump on board one of the buses as they have bike holders. They'll take you to the top and they you'll get to ride all the way down at breathtaking speeds.
So again, if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, try some biking in Zion for a change.
